Our business is built upon insights developed over of a lifetime of research and practice. Founding partners, Rose Haferd, a licensed educational psychologist and Thomas Haferd have combined their experience in schools and enrichment programs to establish a center of learning in which students find individualized care and attention. We employ research tested strategies for a wide range of learning abilities and tailor programs to fit each unique child. We believe that all students can learn and achieve at high levels through exposure to rigorous, fun inspired content. We designed our programs of assessment and instruction to cater to students’ individual needs, based on what research says works.
Our philosophy is that the most appropriate program for your child can be identified through a rigorous assessment of a student’s cognitive and behavioral skills. Our Compass Rose Personalized Learning Assessment identifies an appropriate learning program that is tailored to build upon your child’s strengths and address any weaknesses or gaps in learning. Common practice is that only students with disabilities benefit from such assessments. However, the findings from our assessment are equally valuable for gifted students or students who do well but do not know why they excel in some areas but not as much in other areas. Our consulting and assessment practice, established over the past five years, uses the latest tools and strategies to conduct these assessments.
Our approach puts to work the deep insight from an assessment done well followed by inspiring individualized or small group instruction conducted by trained and gifted scholars. We know that children learn best when they are engaged and having fun. Through an in-depth consultation following your child’s assessment, families are provided specific recommendations that can be accommodated at home, school or in a setting like our learning center. We recognize that the best schools and home environments can serve most of the needs of children. Nevertheless, even the best schools and homes are not always best equipped to address the specific and unique learning needs of a particular child. We provide a range of programs that use time efficiently and are designed to support areas of a child’s development which are otherwise difficult to find in either schools or homes.
