Data Analysis & Probability:
Data Analysis and Probability is for advanced learners who are interested in pursuing majors in social sciences, physical sciences or engineering or recent high school graduates and college students wish to polish their data analysis and probability skills for internships or new jobs.
This course is taught over eight-weeks during the summer or three months during each semester of the academic year. Participants are required to have access to high speed, reliable internet connection.
Students will be expected to commit approximately one hour per class session to complete homework for this course. The commitment includes active participation in scheduled conversations (chats) on the course interactive forums. Students who do not attend class sessions will be provided an opportunity to meet with an assistant instructor for a half-hour make-up session for a $30 fee.
This course will offer participants an opportunity to:
· Formulate questions that can be addressed with data and collect, organize, and display relevant data to answer their research questions
· Select and use appropriate statistical methods to analyze data
· Develop and evaluate inferences and predictions that are based on data
· Understand and apply basic concepts of probability
