Specialty workshops, classes and clubs
We are fortunate to operate in a mecca of incredible professionals who have extraordinary gifts. Many of these professionals are parents of the children who frequent our programs and/or educators who live nearby and love the occasional opportunity to work with children to inspire and provoke possible life-transforming pursuits.
We believe that the best results in education come from making a strong commitment to a program of studies and following through. Yet, when the right opportunity arises, we will offer a specialty workshop, class or club.
One such opportunity that we will be exploring is introducing high school students to design thinking, a core competency for students in many careers. We are exploring this opportunity in collaboration with folks at Lesley University’s School of Design.
We are also working on a writing program for students of all ages.
Other suggestions from our initial survey of family and friends are film making, photography, Scratch, data analytics, Greek mythology, Latin, penmanship, and Shakespeare.
We will use the following criterial to judge if the workshop is suitable for our center to offer:
· likely appeal to our core constituents
· well-developed time bounded program with sound instructional content
· sufficiently differentiated from opportunities already offered in our local educational community.
In future years, we plan to sponsor affinity clubs such as debate, scrabble or math teams for Stellar Learning students so that they can compete in state or national competitions.
If you would like to collaborate with us in these efforts or have suggestions that you think would appeal to your child, please submit your suggestions here.
